Excellent music player for your mobile phone. It supports gapless playback for MP3 and AAC, and Replay.
Winamp supports a wide variety of contemporary and specialized music file formats, including MIDI, MOD, MPEG-1 audio layers 1 and 2, AAC, M4A, FLAC, WAV, OGG Vorbis, and Windows Media Audio.
However, if you're looking for an app to help you manage your music library on your Android phone and makes it easy to do so, Winamp for Android gets the job done.Winamp is a skinnable, multi-format media player.
The only other Android media management app with this level of features is DoubleTwist, which does a bit more than just manage music. The app is in beta, so expect some bugs, but the developers are happy with the condition of the app and plan to add more features like Shoutcast streaming radio soon. Tapping and holding onto the album art on the screen allows you to search for YouTube videos of the artist, search the Amazon MP3 store for songs by the artist, or even open Pandora and search for the artist. The app also has a "Now Playing" mode that's perfect for listening to music and podcasts while your phone is docked or charging. The player controls pop up first whenever there's a song playing, so you can get right to the music instead of wading through the library to see what's playing. Just like the desktop version of the app, Winamp for Android allows you to queue songs, manage and build playlists on the fly, and the home screen takes you directly to the song that's playing so you can quickly pause it, skip forward to the next one, or hop over to your music library to manage tracks. Enable Wi-Fi sync in the app, and you won't have to dock your Android phone to your computer to make sure it's all up to date and any new downloads in your Winamp library are copied over to your phone.
Perhaps the app's biggest benefit is that you can sync your files and playlists with your desktop Winamp setup completely wirelessly. The player also comes with home screen widgets and shortcuts that let you control playback without having to open the application directly or leave your home screen. In addition to being a music player, the Winamp for Android app also does Last.fm scrobbling if you have the Last.fm mobile app installed on your Android phone. Once you have them both installed and paired, you get an almost iTunes-like experience where all of your playlists, songs, and podcasts are synchronized between your desktop and your Android phone.
The Winamp for Android beta works in conjunction with the Winamp desktop app, so you'll need them both installed in order to get the full benefit of the mobile app. AOL, owners of Nullsoft, the development company that built Winamp, recently announced the beta app that will sync your music library with your Android phone wirelessly and gives you complete control over your music while your phone is connected to your computer and while you're on the go. If you're tired of the stock Android music player and want one that brings more than just audio playback to your mobile phone, the new Winamp for Android beta may do the trick. The beauty of owning an Android device is that you have a wide variety of apps to choose from for just about everything.
